Believe it or not, getting enough sleep is a great way to keep your body healthy. Most adults need an average of 7-8 hours of good, quality sleep each night. What do we mean by quality sleep? We mean that you need 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep where your body is in total recovery mode. When we are sleeping, our bodies are working to recover from the previous day – it helps our muscles recover, our skin breathes and detoxes, our brains recover, and so much more.
There are so many health benefits of getting a good night’s sleep every night. If you don’t sleep enough each night, or you don’t get good quality sleep, you may notice certain health issues. Sleeping well can have so many effects on your health, and here’s how sleeping better can increase your health…

Brain function

If you don’t get enough sleep regularly, then you may notice issues with remembering things and recalling details. This is because your brain is overloaded and didn’t have enough time to catch up and recover. Your brain needs to sleep just as much as you do, so the more sleep you get, the better your brain will function.

Heart health

When you’re sleeping at night, your blood pressure decreases. This gives your heart a break and allows it to not work as hard to pump blood through your body. Your heart needs to rest too, so allowing yourself to sleep for 7-8 hours a night gives your heart 7-8 hours to rest so it can get back to work the next day, and it allows it to work even better than it would if you only slept 3-4 hours a night.

Athletic ability

Because your muscles recover overnight, sleeping enough allows them to work even harder the next day. Sleeping gives your muscles the energy they need to perform better. So the more quality sleep you get consistently, the harder you can work out and increase your athletic performance.

Immunity

Your immune system requires downtime and quality sleep too. If you are constantly running on 3-4 hours of sleep, your immune system is more likely to break down and allow germs in – making you sicker more often. Getting a good night’s sleep every night can increase your immunity so you can do the things you want!

Weight control

When you aren’t feeling super tired, you aren’t super hungry. The more rested you are the less hungry you are – resulting in weight control or loss. Being deprived of sleep can mess with your hormone levels in your entire body which can make you feel more or less hungry depending on how much sleep you get.
The amount of sleep you need varies on a variety of things – your age, your activity level, etc. But no matter your situation, the more sleep you get the better you’ll feel. Staying active is one of the best things you can do for yourself – working out regularly can increase your quality of sleep since your body and muscles will be more tired. Here at Gymammo, we supply you with the highest-quality activewear clothing, so you can get in a good workout while also improve your sleep!
